Chinese Marketing Calendar for the First Half of 2027: Key Dates UAE Brands Should Plan For

Chinese Marketing Calendar for the First Half of 2027: Key Dates UAE Brands Should Plan For

How to Use This Calendar

Distinguish festivals, shopping periods and travel windows

In the first half of 2027, key dates include Chinese New Year on 6 February, International Women’s Day on 8 March, Qingming Festival on 5 April, Labour Day on 1–2 May, 520 on 20 May, Dragon Boat Festival on 9 June and 618 on 18 June. Festival dates do not by themselves confirm the length of a public-holiday break.

These dates serve different purposes. Traditional festivals can shape cultural content, family plans and travel. Shopping events are commercial campaigns, and their promotional periods may extend beyond the named date. Travel windows depend on official holiday arrangements, school breaks, flight availability and destination conditions.

  • Select dates based on your brand and business objective

Before adding a date to your plan, ask: Who are you trying to reach? What might they be planning or looking for at that time? Can your business offer something useful and relevant?

Chinese New Year

  • Which brands and audiences may find this period relevant

New Year’s Day falls on 1 January. The main cultural moment in this period is Chinese New Year: Lunar New Year’s Eve is 5 February, the first day of the lunar year is Saturday 6 February, and the Lantern Festival falls on 20 February.

The period may be relevant to UAE hotels, restaurants, attractions, retailers and travel services looking to reach Chinese visitors or residents. It may also suit brands serving families or offering dining and gifting experiences.

  • How early to prepare content and campaigns

If a campaign needs new creative, creator partnerships or paid media, plan backwards from 1 month and half to the campaign date. Allow time to confirm the offer, produce Chinese-language content, check platform requirements and prepare customer-service responses.

Labour Day, 520 and Mid-Year Planning

  • What makes 520 relevant or irrelevant to a brand

520 falls on 20 May. The date is widely used in China as a romantic or gifting moment because “520” sounds similar to “I love you” in Mandarin. It may suit dining, hospitality, flowers, beauty and gifting brands, provided the campaign feels natural for the brand and its audience.

  • Labour Day travel and campaign opportunities

China’s revised holiday rules designate 1 and 2 May as statutory Labour Day holidays.

UAE hotels and attractions can prepare clear information about availability, transport, location and booking. Retailers and service businesses should join the moment only when they have a relevant offer or useful information for Chinese visitors or residents.

  • Mid-year campaigns and first-half review

Dragon Boat Festival falls on 9 June. Food, cultural experiences and corporate gifting may offer relevant content angles

The 618 shopping period is associated with 18 June, but platform promotions may run for weeks. In 2026, Reuters reported that the campaign ran from mid-May into June and that consumer spending was cautious.

A Planning Timeline for UAE Brands

  • 8–12 weeks ahead: set goals, audiences and budgets

Start with the business objective: awareness, enquiries, bookings, footfall or retention. Choose the audience and decide whether the date is a cultural festival, a travel window or a commercial promotion. Confirm the offer, budget, booking path and operational limits.

  • 4–8 weeks ahead: prepare content, creators and channel plans

Prepare Chinese-language content, confirm creators or partners, and check platform requirements and review timelines. Content should answer practical questions, such as where the service is, what it includes, how to book and whether availability is limited.

  • During and after the campaign: follow up, review and reuse

During the campaign, keep service information current, respond to enquiries and track the quality of customer interactions. Afterwards, review which channels and messages generated useful results. Reuse strong content when appropriate, but update dates, terms and availability before publishing it again.
